Research: Film Audiences

§The target audience of a film is hugely important because it determines who watches it and who doesn't, based upon the content of the film. There are many things that can create a connection between a film and parts of its audience, like the soundtrack, the actors, themes or locations.
Audiences vary for each film genre; therefore movies tend to contain elements that allow it to spread over several genres which helps to widen its target audience.
The target audience can be classed and identified in many ways, for exmaple:
age
gender
social group
ethnicity
Our research has shown that thrillers are mostly particularly popular with males who are under 25. This is because thrillers are action-packed and full of suspense.

Comparison of Juno (Original & Remake)

Recreating Juno was our first experience at having to plan & create a storyboard, shoot and edit the film. By having something to follow, it helped gain our understanding of how to create not only a film opening, but any film in general.

Our remake of Juno had good and bad aspects.
The storyboard which we created followed and captured all the shot types we needed to replicate from the film. It was useful as it meant we did not have to review the video to know what to shoot whilst on set - we would just refer to the storyboard.
Although we did not get to finish the film as planned, we managed to copy most of the shots accurately. our editing skills were good and enabled us to find out how to cut clips together to make it flow. We also managed to use some transitions between the shots.

The video below is Juno's original opening and our remake of Juno.

Lights; Camera, Action!

Here we are - the most flexible group on set shooting the remake of Juno.
We all had a go at using the camera and equipment to prepare us for using a camera in a few weeks time for the thriller opening we will create.

James - a born camera man!
 Eugenie - a born star!

Cold weather was a disappointment
British weather didn't ruin our shoot!
"Peace earthlings! Smile James..."

"Let's go!"

Research: Juno Story board

As part of our research we looked into film openings and selected the film "Juno" to analyse words and remake. Doing this would help us gain an insight into how to create an opening of the film.
offered we then had to watch the opening and create a storyboard of it consisting with sketches of all the different shots used in the order of the opening. Whilst creating this storyboard we had to also explain what is happening in the shot below the diagram we sketched of the shot. When explaining the shot we included what is going on and what shot it actually is whether its a "close up" or "tracking shot".

Actors, Locations and Props

The main character in the opening - Juno - was portrayed by Eugenie (a born star!). We will also need back up characters which are involved but don't really do as much they are only going to be in the background. Whilst remaking this opening of the film, we are going to need a location similar to the location used in the real opening of the film therefore we will be travelling to the park in order to create this opening again because that is where Juno the film was set and trees and leaves are used. We will also need props to make it look as realistic as possible therefore similar clothing will be worn by are main character including a red hoody, black top and jeans. Other props used will be a carton of milk which is carried by Juno throughout the whole opening, Milk is the main prop used throughout the opening.

To get us started, we created a storyboard of the opening to help us know what to do. Below are the pictures of are storyboard which will be used to help us create the film opening:
